In this park you will find the largest gathering of Asian elephants in the world. Dambulla is best known for the Golden Temple. The rock temples of Dambulla have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991 and are the largest, best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Kandy is located in a valley and in the middle of the center you will find a large lake with a small island in the middle. The city has a number of nice sights. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants.
